WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – There are more questions than answers after a man and woman were found dead from gunshot wounds inside their home on Sunday. Police are calling it a murder-suicide.

When they arrived to the home inside the block of 3100 South 3380 West, they the bodies of Miraheta Skender, 49, and Samir Skender, 51. One of the daughters made the call to police.

Mehmed Huseinbegovic and his brother Mirza tell ABC4’s Brittany Johnson that they’ve known the Skender family for 15 years. They’re still trying to piece together what went wrong.

“They’re really nice people. I see them everyday. We say hi to each other — they’re very friendly,” said Mehmed. “To see something like this is just incredible. I was very shocked, I couldn’t believe what happened.”

“You never would have saw this coming,” added Mirza.

The Skenders own the European Pizza Deli around the corner from their home. Mirza and Mehmed who call themselves regulars at the restaurant, describe Samir as a hardworking businessman.

“{He} did whatever he could for his family to always provide for them. {They’re} just a very good family overall,” Mehmed said.
