UPDATE: Missing Big Cottonwood Canyon hiker found

Unified Police have confirmed that the 70-year-old man who went missing near Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon has been found safe. The man was found around 5:45 pm near the Laurel Pines area. Police say the man is in good condition.

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (ABC4 Utah) Rescue crews are searching the area around Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon for a 70-year-old man with dementia.

Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen told ABC4 the missing man does not speak any English and is originally from China. He has been missing since 11am Sunday.

UPD Canyon Officers and Search and Rescue have responded. Detective Hansen says they are working on getting a helicopter in the air to join the search and hope to find the man before nightfall.
