The University of Utah has announced that they will award honorary degrees to three people at the upcoming commencement ceremony in May.

The University of Utah Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that Robert “Archie” Archuleta, May Farr and Gary L Crocker will all be given honarary degrees May 2, during the 2019 annual commencement ceremony. The board says they chose the recipients because of how they exemplify passionate activism, public advocacy and philanthropy.

“Our honorees have touched the lives of thousands of people through their commitment to public service,” said Joe Sargetakis, chair of the Board of Trustees’ honors committee. “They also have been unwavering in their support of the university, helping the U in its mission to serve the state as the University for Utah.”

The degree for Archuleta will be awarded posthumously because he suddenly passed away in January.
