HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC4 News) — The Unified Fire Authority performed ice rescue training Tuesday for its crews at Black Ridge Reservoir.

The training covered awareness of what to do in the event an ice rescue is necessary as well as prevention methods and included an overview and live demonstration of the proper technique and equipment needed to conduct a rescue operation.

Unified Fire said people need to be aware that if someone falls through the ice, their best course of action is to call 911 and not attempt to rescue them yourself.

The fire authority stresses there is an added risk of injury or death yourself if you are not properly trained.
