UINTAH COUNTY (News4Utah)- The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has lost an important member of the team.

A police K9 had to be euthanized after he was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Aries, a small Belgian Malinois, was the first ever certified explosive detection K9 in the Uintah Basin.

His handler, Deputy Kyle Fuller, said Aries  was always ready for work and always watched over him to make sure he was safe.

“I always knew that I could trust Aries if deployed in any situation,” he said.

Wednesday his remains will be given a police escort to Deputy Fuller’s home.
