Utah Highway Patrol shared numbers of arrests for possible driving under the influence over New Year’s Eve.
On December 30, Utah become the state with the nation’s strictest blood alcohol content allowance. The legal limit for operating a motor vehicle dropped from .08 to .05.
UHP said troopers made 11 arrests for DUI between Monday night and early Tuesday morning. In one case, the driver arrested was five times over the new .05 law.
Troopers said none of the arrests Monday night were below the old .08 law. One person arrested blew a .257 BAC, according to officials.
