FARMINGTON, Utah (News4Utah) – One man is in critical condition after an attempted traffic stop in Farmington early Thursday morning.
Police say around 5:30 a.m. a driver sped off after a trooper tried to pull them over near a rest stop at Park Lane in Farmington.
Due to high speeds, the trooper decided not to pursue, according to Lt. Todd Royce of Utah Highway Patrol.
The driver tried to get off at the Park Lane off-ramp when he crashed, Lt. Todd Royce said.
It is believed that the car he was driving was stolen, police say.
He is said to be in critical condition and was flown to the University of Utah Hospital. Royce said he doesn’t believe the driver’s condition is life threatening.
His identity has not been released.
