If you cross a double line, you’re breaking the law.

That’s the message the Utah Department of Transportation wants to get across.

“Even though much of the Express Lanes are lifted, that’s the one restriction that is not. You cannot cross the double white lines,” UDOT”s John Gleason said.

Gleason said the restrictions for the Express Lanes have been lifted southbound from 400 North in Salt Lake County all the way down to Lehi Main Street and northbound from Lehi Main Street through Bangerter Highway.

“Drivers may assume that because the suspension is lifted you can use those Express Lanes and that you can also cross those double white lines,” he said.

He said drivers in the other lanes aren’t expecting others to cross the double white lines and doing so can be very dangerous.
