SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC4 Utah)- One of the highest ranking members of the United States House of Representatives is in Utah just in time for the 3rd Congressional District Special Election Debate.

The debate, set for Wednesday at 6 p.m. will feature Democrat candidate Dr. Kathie Allen, United Utah Party candidate Jim Bennett, and Republican candidate John Curtis. Earlier Wednesday one of them picked up an endorsement from the Majority Leader in the U.S. House.

Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) is standing by Provo Mayor John Curtis.

“He’s never said this to me, but this is the way I sum up Mayor Curtis; he puts people before politics, and that’s what’s going to make a difference in Washington. I’m so excited, and it’s going to be so refreshing to have him join part of the team,” Rep. McCarthy said Wednesday at the Utah GOP Headquarters.

Curtis has a big lead in the race over the other two candidates. The debate Wednesday night will give his challengers a chance to move the needle in their direction.

You can watch it live at ABC4. We will also be streaming it online.
