UPDATE: Two people have been booked into jail following the bar fight turned shooting Friday night in South Salt Lake.
Police said Falefatu Fatiau,27 and Stephano Tuisila, 22, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on more than 20 felony counts including discharge of a firearm and one felony count of aggravated assault.
Charging documents state both Fatiau and Tuisila were at Scallywags when a fight broke out and after exiting the bar, they grabbed firearms from a car in the parking lot.
Police said they have surveillance footage of the incident and both Fatiau and Tuislia are in that footage. Fatiau is accused of firing 11 rounds while eight additional rounds where said to have been shot by others. Tuisila told police he fired one shot, while two others fired 18 rounds at a crowd of people.
One woman was shot three times and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
While it appears there are more suspects involved, it is not known at this time who they are. We will update the story when more information becomes available.
SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (News4Utah) – A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a fight turned into a shooting at a bar in South Salt Lake Friday night.
According to South Salt Lake Police spokesperson Gary Keller, their officers were dispatched to Scallywags Bar located at 3040 South State St. at about 1 a.m. on a report of a fight. Police were told the fight started inside the bar and those involved were escorted outside by security.
Once outside the bar the fight erupted again when a glass was thrown.
Two males ran to a vehicle and retrieved a handgun and an assault rifle and began shooting into a
group of people in the parking lot. A female in the group was hit by gunfire and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Also a male involved in the fight inside the bar was transported to the hospital in serious condition due to injuries caused during the fight.
Police were able to stop a vehicle that was attempting to leaving the bar and have detained four individuals.
This is developing as the Investigation is ongoing. An update will be provided once more information is obtained.
