UPDATE: Police have arrested two suspects in connection with an early morning fatal hit-and-run in West Valley City on Sunday.
According to arresting documents, the two suspects, Andres Mendoza, 24, and Alejandra Molina, 24, were roommates with the victim and had got into an argument about money.
All the individuals have been living in the same residence for several months. During the argument, the couple started moving out of the home. Both were in separate vehicles and had started to back out of the driveway when they told police the victim came out yelling at them.
Mendoza said he then felt his vehicle hit the victim as he lost control of the clutch. He said he saw the victim try and stand up. Both Mendoza and his girlfriend then quickly left the scene without calling for help.
Both Mendoza and Molina were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on second-degree felony criminal homicide.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) A woman was killed after being struck by possibly two cars in front of her home in West Valley City early Sunday morning.
Lt. Kent Stokes, West Valley City Police said the woman, identified as 36-year-old Tequila Garcia, was found by a roommate lying in the street in front of the home located near 2855 West 3785 South in extremely critical condition just before 2 a.m.
Medical personnel arrived but Garcia died at the scene.
Stokes said they are still investigating but there were reports of an altercation at the residence between the people outside in the cars and someone inside the home.
Stokes said it is possible both cars struck the woman as they drove away from the scene.
Garcia has been transported to the Medical Examiners office as investigators still try to determine exactly what happened.
An update will be provided if additional details are released.
