Two men from Utah killed in shooting in Oregon, suspect arrested

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (ABC4 News) – Two men from Utah were killed in a shooting in Grants Pass, Oregon early Friday morning.

According to a press release issued by the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, officers with their police department responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of 1760 Harbeck Road. As officers arrived, it was reported there was a firearm involved. 

Officers on scene found two men, Justin Scott Severnak, 38, and Christopher Wayne Lyon, 42, deceased. Both men were from Salt Lake City and had recently moved to Oregon.

Another man, 44-year-old Trevor A. Gilmore, who was still at the scene, was questioned and arrested on two charges of aggravated murder and unlawful use of a firearm. 

The case is being referred to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office for review.
