SPRINGDALE, Utah (ABC4 news) – Two men were arrested after one of them tried to gain access to a hotel pool and spa by impersonating a police officer Saturday night.
Springdale Police and Zion Park Rangers responded to a hotel on a report of a man who showed up in a black-colored Ford Crown Victoria and went into the lobby wearing a badge on a lanyard around his neck.
The man said he needed access to the hotel’s pool and spa because he was there to apprehend someone but the hotel employee became suspicious and called police.
The first arriving officer stopped a matching vehicle and made contact with the two men.
The driver was identified as Jeffery Snyder of Cedar City and the passenger was identified as Alexander Buzz, also of Cedar City.
Police said Buzz was intoxicated and told officers he was carrying a loaded gun and a concealed handgun.
Buzz also had a “security” jacket and a set of handcuffs on him. Buzz admitted to the officer the badge belonged to him and he used to work a security job.
After a search warrant was obtained to search the vehicle, officers located suspected drugs, a rifle and an additional handgun.
Both males were arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail.
