Two critically injured in accident near South Willard

SOUTH WILLARD (News4Utah) – Two people are in the hospital in extremely critical condition after an accident on U.S. 89 near South Willard Saturday afternoon.

The Utah Highway Patrol reports the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. A gold Mazda Protege was stopped at a stop sign at 8700 South. The Mazda pulled out in front of a Dodge Ram and the truck hit the drivers side door of the Mazda.

The collision caused the Mazda to spin off the roadway. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The 21-year-old female driver of the Mazda, who is in her first trimester of pregnancy, was wearing her seatbelt but the 20-year-old male passenger was not. The collision threw the male passenger into the driver seat, hitting the driver.

The female was taken via helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital while the male passenger was taken via helicopter to Ogden Regional Hospital. Both are in extremely critical condition.
