UPDATE: Police identify bodies found near Moab, open homicide investigation

UPDATE: THURSDAY 8/19/21 6:15 p.m.

GRAND COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – The identities of the two deceased persons that were found in the La Sal Mountains on Wednesday have been released, as well as the cause of death.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office has named the deceased as 38-year-old Crystal Turner and 24-year-old Kylen Schulte and has stated the two were killed as a result of gunshot wounds.

Police are moving forward with the investigation as a possible homicide and are pursuing any new leads the department receives.

There is believed to be no current risk to the public.

GRAND COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – The bodies of two deceased hikers have been found in the La Sal Mountains near Moab on Wednesday.

Details are scarce at the moment as the Grand County Sheriff’s Office is still working to notify the families of the deceased females. The cause of death is also currently under investigation, according to officials.
