KEARNS (News4Utah)- Two men are behind bars, accused of shooting a man twice and leaving him for dead.

Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke said the shooting happened at a home located at 5363 West 5150 South around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th.

He says when officers responded to the scene they found the 29-year-old victim with gun shot wounds to the neck and lower stomach.

Investigators immediately began searching for the suspect. At the time of the incident officers were led to believe the victim and suspect were roommates, but after investigating Lt. Lohrke said they were able to identify two suspects, neither of which lived with the victim.

“Investigators believe the shooting was a result of an argument over money owed by the victim,” said Lt. Lohrke.

Officers have arrested Robert Roque Phillips and Dustin Blackner, both 28 years old.

Phillips and Blackner have been booked into Salt Lake County Jail on unrelated warrants. Charges in the case are pending.

Police say the victim in this case remains in the hospital but is improving.
