OGDEN, Utah (News4Utah) – UPDATE: A second man was arrested in connection with the case of the shooting death of a man near Ogden’s 21st Street Pond.

Dalton James Aiken, 27, was booked into jail on Friday, August 28. on weapon and drug charges.

Police made an arrest in connection with a body found in Ogden Thursday morning.

Cory Fitzwater was booked into the Weber County Jail on a charge of murder.

Ogden police said they responded to a transient camp in the area of 500 West 21st Street around 4 a.m. and found a body that showed signs of “significant trauma.”

Occupants of the camp told police they left the victim, Brian Racine, 28, of California, alone around 2 a.m. and that was the last time they saw him alive. When they returned, the Racine was dead and they called 911.

During the course of the investigation, evidence at the scene and witness accounts helped investigators identify Fitzwater as the suspect.

During a traffic stop by a Weber County deputy, also early Thursday morning, the driver told detectives he saw Fitzwater shoot the Racine with the gun that was found in the vehicle.

Ogden police thanked the Weber County deputy for “his proactive police effort, which resulted in pertinent information and supportive leads to assist in this investigation.”
