TOOELE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Police say he used the internet to prey on teenage victims close to home.
20-year-old Heath Kelley is accused of targeting high school girls all over Tooele County by sending and soliciting nude photos — as well as asking them to meet for sex.
Police say the victims went to Tooele High School, Grantsville High School and Stansbury High school — with roughly 15 to 20 confirmed victims so far.
Police say there could be more.
According to Tooele Police, the investigation started around Nov. 10.
“She was receiving messages asking for nude photographs and sex,” said Sgt. James May with Tooele City Police.
A 14-year-old girl told her parents that Kelley had reached out online.
According to police, they soon found more victims. Kelley allegedly used Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram to contact the teenagers.
“You’re asking juveniles for photos, which are considered child pornography,” said May.
Police encourage all parents to stay engaged with their children’s lives — and that includes keeping track of their social media activity.
