SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A 4-year-old girl is dead after her mother crashed her SUV into a tree, police say. An investigation is underway to determine if speed was a factor.
Salt Lake City Police say at about 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, the woman was driving on 2700 South when she crossed over the lanes and crashed her vehicle near Chadwick Street.
According to police, two medical professionals live in the area. They ran out to help. Police say the good Samaritans tried to resuscitate the child. She was rushed to Primary Children’s Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The mother survived the crash and was taken to a local hospital and treated for unknown injuries.
Investigators are working to determine if the girl was in the right size booster seat or if she was even secured in one at all.
