Mount Pleasant, Utah (ABC4 News) – Three Sanpete County teens died Friday night when the sedan they were riding in crashed into the back of a truck and burst into flames, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Investigators say the 16-year-old driver of a white sedan, which was also occupied by three other teen passengers, was traveling west on Power Plant Road around 9:20 pm Friday night when it hit the back of a flatbed truck.

UHP says the truck was traveling in the same direction, but at a lower speed. The driver of the sedan tried to stop, but impacted the rear of the truck. The sedan then caught fire. The 16-year-old driver and 14-year-old passenger in the truck received minor injurues.

Killed in the crash were 18-year-old Ryan Lyman of Ephraim, 16-year-old Julie Oldroyd from Fountain Green, and 16-year-old Kody Wheller. The sedan’s driver was transported to the hospital with head injuries and then released.

ABC4 News will have more on this crash and the investigation as it becomes available.
