‘The Return of the Inversion’: How to keep you and yours safe from the perils of particulate matter

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4News) – The next five days in SLC will bring another wave of smoggy inversion, dropping the air quality to orange by about Monday. Doctors say, it’s not just sensitive groups who need to pay attention, the air will be so bad that everyone will feel it.

Dr. Denitza Blagev at Intermountain Medical Center said, “One of my patients said, I don’t have to look to know what the air quality is, I wake up and I know what it is.” She says the problem is pervasive, but it’s a battle we all need to fight seriously.

Some of this is our geography, but at the very micro level when the air is bad, follow the warnings about not doing any wood burning if you have a wood burning fireplace. Idling is a  big thing we see. Seems like an easy things to fix but we see a ton of people are idling picking up and dropping off kids, and it’s our kids that are getting that increased air pollution exposure.”
