The Red Cross works to prepare homeowners before the disaster strikes

Local News

In Utah,  several thousand alarms and hundreds of families have been made safer thanks to the Red Cross’ efforts to educate people on home fire safety.

Last spring, volunteers answered the call and installed 100,000 free smoke alarms in high-risk neighborhoods nationwide.

The event was called “Sound the Alarm” and took place in more than 100 communities across the country, providing a lifesaving service in our quest to reduce death and injury from home fires.

To date, the Red Cross has installed over 1.5 million alarms nationally along with preparedness education that has saved hundreds of lives.
