WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) A teenage boy is dead after shooting in West Valley City Tuesday night.
West Valley City police officers responded to 4700 West Thayn around 9:30 p.m.
Police say neighbors heard arguing and saw a group fighting in the street. At least one neighbor reportedly called out to the group to break up the fight and upon returning to their home, the witness heard gunshots and saw the teen lying in the street.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim, identified as 16-year-old Fernando Aranda, died of his injuries.
Investigators says three or four suspects in a mid 2000s white SUV, approached Aranda as he was walking down the street and an argument ensued followed by the shooting.
The suspects fled the scene headed eastbound.
Police say at this time, there’s no evidence to link this shooting with another shooting that occurred earlier the same day in West Valley City.
