WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) — The West Valley City police recognized what they are calling a “remarkable” young man.
During Tuesday’s City Council meeting the “courageous citizen” award was given to a teenager who stopped a suspect with a knife during an attempted robbery.
WVCPD said on September 7, a woman had returned to her home, only to find a man inside, demanding any valuables she had on her person, and threatening her with a knife.
As the woman did not have any valuables with her, she began screaming, which caught the attention of Salvador Colorado, 15, who was jogging nearby to take action by grabbing the suspect from behind, throwing him onto the ground.
When the suspect got up, he began running away from the apartment complex where the situation unfolded.
Police said the suspect was never located, but they wanted to express gratitude for saving this woman from any harm or any property theft.
