SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- A teenager managed to walk a way with just a few scrapes after he was hit by an unmarked officer’s vehicle while on his skateboard Thursday morning.
It happened at the intersection of 900 South and 400 West around 7:30 a.m.
Sgt. Tony Carrubba with Utah Highway Patrol told ABC4 the officer had just stopped at a stop sign and was driving through the intersection when the collision occurred.
The skateboarder , a 17-year-old male, was in the bicycle lane when he ran into the side of the officer’s vehicle.
Sgt.Carrubba said the teen was on his way to school and had minor injuries.
“Be aware, especially this time of year. A lot of kids are going to school now; they’re going to be on scooters, skateboards, bikes…let’s make sure everybody is paying attention,” he said.
