MAPLETON, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – An 18-year-old senior at Maple Mountain High School was killed in a car crash just days before her graduation, police say.
On Monday Kathrynn Shaw was in a Hyundai SUV with three other girl heading south on Main Street. At about 7:30 p.m. police say a 17-year-old boy heading west on 1600 North crashed into their car.
The impact caused the SUV to roll. Shaw, 18, was ejected and later died from her injuries.
Everyone else involved, including the three girls in the SUV with Shaw and the two teens in the other car, were treated on scene for their injuries.
Nebo School District and Maple Mountain High School have counselors at the school to help students deal with this tragedy.
The following message from the Shaw family was shared at graduation practice Tuesday:
“Please tell the Maple Mountain High students we love them. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kathrynn’s friends and students. Just remember that Kathrynn’s smile and giggle are close. Kathrynn would want you to have so much fun today and at graduation!!!”
