Target shooter accidentally hits, kills teen boy

RICH COUNTY (News4Utah)- A 14-year-old boy died Sunday after police say he was shot in the head.

It happened Sunday around 3 p.m. near the Monte Cristo Range.

Police say the boy was riding in the back seat of a vehicle with his family when the bullet, intended for a target several hundred feet away from the vehicle, hit him in the head.

After reconstructing the scene and interviewing witnesses, investigators determined the shooting was unintentional.

At this time no charges have been filed.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
