SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – A father is in custody after a SWAT situation in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
Authorities tell ABC4 that a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. Police were informed that there was a protective order against the unidentified man.
The man then allegedly took his 2-year-old son.
West Valley City Police called on Salt Lake City Police to respond to a home on North Star Crest Drive to take the man into custody.
When he refused to be taken in, police tell ABC4 that several family members started to fight with officers and push them out.
The man and the family then barricaded themselves inside, prompting a SWAT response.
Police say the man was arrested for violating a protective order, resisting arrest, and kidnapping. Several other people were arrested, including one juvenile, for obstruction and interfering with arrest.
The incident remains under investigation.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – A SWAT situation on North Star Crest Drive in Salt Lake City at approximately 9:30, Saturday evening.
Reports of several people barricaded inside a home prompted a large police response along with road closures in the area of 700 North between Redwood Road and I-215.
