The Ogden Police Department says they have detained a “person of interest” in the shooting of an Ogden store owner on Sunday night.

Officials say the investigation into the shooting, which happened at Super Grocery Store at 675 N Monroe Blvd in Ogden, is “active and ongoing.”

No information about the invidual was released.

“No further information is being released at this time to allow for a thorough and complete investigation that is focused on ensuring justice for Mr. Singh and his family,” Ogden police said in a news release.

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) – Police have released video, seen above, of the suspect believed to be involved in the shooting of an Ogden store owner on Sunday night.

The person of interest is seen in the surveillance video wearing a blue surgical mask, black gloves, a gray Oakland Raiders hoodie, and black sweats with white lettering on his left leg with dark-colored shoes. Investigators believe that person may be 16-25 years old.

According to Ogden Police, a suspect entered the Super Grocery on Monroe Boulevard where the unknown suspect and store owner 65-year-old Satnam Singh had a short conversation. Police said the suspect then fired shots at Singh, killing him.

Officials said the suspect immediately left the business after the shooting, running northwest out of the parking lot. The exact motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

A vigil was held for Singh on Monday.

Ogden store owner killed, suspect still at large

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) – Authorities have confirmed the owner of an Ogden store has been killed in a Sunday night homicide.

Police say that at around 11:50 p.m. on Sunday that an unknown suspect entered the Super Grocery on N. Monroe Boulevard. A preliminary investigation reveals the suspect and the store owner communicated for a short period of time and, at one point, police say the suspect fire a pistol at the victim, striking and killing him.

Ogden City Police tell ABC4 the victim is store owner 65-year-old Satnam Singh.

According to authorities, the suspect immediately fled from the business and ran northwest out of the parking lot. The exact motive for the shooting is unknown.

Original Story: ‘Suspicious death’ under investigation at Ogden store

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) – Ogden City Police are investigating a suspicous death at a grocery store Monday morning.

Lt. Brian Eynon tells ABC4 they are investigating the death at Super Groceries on North Monroe Street.

ABC4’s Jordan Verdadeiro is on scene. Crime scene tape can be seen around the store with an officer and an investigation unit in the parking lot.
