Suspect wanted by FBI after deadly DUI crash turns self in

UPDATE: Officials at the FBI say Rentz turned himself in and is now in custody.

ANETH, Utah (ABC4 News) — Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation are looking for a man who was allegedly involved in a deadly drunk driving crash near the town of Aneth in July of 2017. 

Philip Rentz, or Phillip Rentz Jr. is described as:

  • Native American 
  • 5 feet 9 inches tall
  • 155 pounds
  • Black hair and Brown eyes
  • Tattoos on his chest and both arms

Officials say on July 5, 2017, Rentz was allegedly driving a vehicle that went off the road and crashed, killing one of the passengers inside the car.

Testing revealed Rentz had a blood alcohol content of .217. A federal arrest warrant was issued and Rentz was charged with involuntary manslaughter while within Indian Country. 

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Phillip Rentz is asked to call the FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office at (801) 579-6189.
