Suspect posing as a security guard assaults and carjacks victim

MILLCREEK, Utah (News4Utah) – Millcreek Police are looking for a man and woman involved in an assault and carjacking that happened at a Smith’s Grocery Store parking lot.

On Wednesday just after 12:00 a.m., the two suspects drove into the parking lot, located at 845 East 4500 South, in a dark Dodge truck.

The male suspect got out of the truck, impersonated a Smith’s Grocery security guard, then assaulted and carjacked the victim

According to Lt. Brian Lohrke with the Unified Police Dept., the male suspect drove off in the victim’s car — reported to be a 2005 Ford Escape, and the female suspect drove off in the black Dodge Truck.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, police say do the following:

  • Immediately give up your property that the suspect wants
  • Honk your horn
  • Run away from the scene
  • Draw attention to yourself
  • Call 911
