MILLARD COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – One person is in custody after a standoff with police and SWAT teams in Millard County earlier today.
In a Facebook post from the Millard County Sheriff’s Office, police responded to a rural address just outside of Delta shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Police responded after dispatchers received a call from a woman stating she was assaulted in her home. A man she had met the night before became intoxicated and physically assaulted her. As the woman left the residence, the man stated he would shoot any law enforcement that came near the house.
The house was contained and multiple agencies were called including the Utah Highway Patrol and the Division of Natural Resources. After learning the suspect had loaded rifles with him, a SWAT Team from Utah County was also called.
After the SWAT team arrived and deployed, the suspect exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect, 51-year-old Michael Eric Kalarney will be booked into jail on one count each of making a terroristic threat and aggravated assault.
