Suspect arrested after man found severely beaten at SLC apartment complex

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Salt Lake police have arrested a suspect after a man who had apparently been severely beaten was found inside an apartment.

It happened at the Sunrise Metro Apartments located at 580 South 500 West.

Lt. Cracroft with the Salt Lake City Police Dept.told ABC4 News that at 11:15 p.m, a person went to the front desk and said a guy had been beaten up. When security officers went upstairs, they went into an apartment and found the victim. Lt. Cracroft said there was “blood all over the place”.

Medical teams were called in and the victim was taken to the University Hospital with a skull fracture, lacerations to the head, a broken wrist, and injuries to his rectum.

Police booked 62-year-old Anthony Ray Chavez into Salt Lake County Jail on charges of object rape and aggravated assault.
