SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – There was an explosion and fire at a substation in downtown Salt Lake City early Sunday morning says Division Chief Ryan Mellor with Salt Lake Fire.
Officials say a dispatch call was made at 4:29a.m. Sunday morning reporting smoke coming from the substation.
When crews arrived on scene it was quickly called a 2 alarm fire with more crews being called to assist said Mellor.
Authorities say the fire started when a large circuit breaker broke catching near by pallets on fire.
Mellor said flames vented through the roof causing minimal damage to the structure. Damage inside the structure is still unknown.
Officials say this fire is not considered a suspicious act.
No injuries have been reported.
