Students learn about 9/11 in history class

GRANTSVILLE, Utah (News4Utah) Tuesday marks the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Many remember the moment they heard or saw the planes hitting the World Trade Center Towers and the Pentagon in 2001. For students in school, the moment that changed America is a history lesson.

Ms. Polly Jones’ sixth graders learned about the terror attacks at Willow Elementary.

“There were kids who had no idea what 9/11 was before today. That does surprise me,” Jones said.

The students learned about the towers that fell, Flight 93 that went down in a Pennsylvania field and part of the Pentagon collapsing. Ms. Jones made sure to also focus on the heroes.

“You look at all of those first responders, you look at the people who stepped up and supported one another and helped one another. Those are great lessons for the kids to have,” Jones said.
