WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Molina Healthcare of Utah is providing a new pair of shoes, socks and underwear to 300 students at Redwood Elementary School.

Youth will also have an opportunity to receive free immunizations, haircuts and backpacks filled with school supplies.

The start of a new school year is filled with exciting anticipation as the back-to-school shopping is done and backpacks are filled, but not for hundreds of students at Redwood Elementary in West Valley.

With 80% of the school’s population living at or below poverty level, the focus instead lies on making ends meet and often going without the most basic of needs.

Molina Healthcare and the community of West Valley are stepping in to help alleviate the start-of-school-year stress for both children and parents.

“Our commitment to the community goes beyond providing affordable healthcare,” says Brandon Hendrickson, president of Molina Healthcare of Utah. “We are dedicated to strengthening and empowering our communities while providing the populations we serve with the everyday resources that they need.”
