SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) -The Utah Bureau of Forensic Sciences released a top 10 list of substances submitted for testing every year.
Senior Forensic Scientist Manager Jennifer McNair said the number of drugs being submitted is “steadily increasing” each year.
Oxycodone submissions have decreased, which leads officials to believe this may be due to fewer prescribed opioids in our state.
McNair also says there is increased testing of the synthetic drug “spice,” though that is due to increased enforcement around the Rio Grande Area.
The Crime Lab said the average turnaround time for drug testing is 10 days
Note: “No-controlled substances” are any samples submitted that are tested and do not contain illegal drugs, they were #3 on the top 10 list.
