SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Coffee drinkers, listen up. Starbucks is announcing big changes to its popular rewards program.

Starting April 16, the coffee chain will move to a tiered reward system allowing rewards members more flexibility and the ability to redeems freebies starting at 25 stars.

25 Stars: Drink Customization (espresso shot, dairy substitute, or syrup)
50 Stars: Brewed Hot Coffee, Hot Tea, or select Bakery Items.
150 Stars: Handcrafted Drink, Hot Breakfast or Yogurt Parfaits
200 Stars: Lunch Sandwich, Protein Box or Salad
400 Stars: Select Merchandise or Packaged Coffee

Notably, handcrafted drinks, hot breakfast items, parfaits, and lunch options will require more “Stars” to redeem, 200 versus the current 150. Lower-cost food and drink options can now be redeemed for only 50 stars.

Most of the current program benefits will remain the same, including earning 2 stars per dollar spent at Starbucks stores, free drink refills, and a free item on your birthday. Points earned with Starbuck’s cobranded Chase debit and credit cards will no longer expire.
