St. George boy struck by vehicle attempting to run across road with friends

ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4 News) – A St. George boy is recovering after being struck by a car while attempting to run across a busy road Tuesday night, according to St. George News

St. George police said the incident happened just after 6 p.m. on Riverside Drive near 2760 East when a group of boys ran across the road. 

Two of the boys made it all the way across, one of the boys stopped in the middle lane and the fourth boy kept running and was hit by a car traveling east on Riverside. 

The driver told police he did not see the boys until the last second and slammed on the brakes to try to avoid them but couldn’t. 

The boy was not seriously hurt but was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. 

Police said the area where the boys ran across is not a crosswalk but there was one about a block away.
