SOUTH SALT LAKE (ABC 4 News) – Several public murals in South Salt Lake were vandalized over Thanksgiving weekend, and now authorities are looking for those responsible.
The murals were a part of Mural Fest, which is a collaboration between Utah Arts Alliance and South Salt Lake City Arts Council. There were numerous local artists featured on the murals, including Jann Haworth.
Haworth says artists understand that something can happen to their public murals, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
“Somebody might come with a big can of paint and splash it or something like that, and I kind of think we are used to tagging, but to actually obliterate a mural is a different level completely,” said Haworth.
Some of the artist plan on restoring the murals, if you want to help, you can find a link to the GoFundMe here.
