South Salt Lake announces funeral arrangements, vigil for Officer David Romrell

SOUTH SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) City officials announced funeral arrangements for a fallen South Salt Lake police officer.

The funeral service in honor of Officer David Romrell will take place Wednesday, December 5 at the Maverik Center at 3200 Decker Lake Drive in West Valley City.

A public viewing will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 11. After the service, a procession will travel to Larkin Mortuary in Sandy. Upon arrival, Romrell will be honored with a dedication, 21-gun salute, and flag folding. 

Ahead of the funeral service, South Salt Lake will host a candlelight vigil on Sunday, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Community Center located at 2531 South 400 East. 

Officer Romrell was killed in the line of duty on November 24. He was struck by a fleeing suspect car after responding to report of a burglary. 

Before joining the South Salt Lake Police Department, Romrell served the United States as a decorated sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
