SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News)- An officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department has been placed on leave after officials say he was arrested in connection to a child porn investigation Wednesday night.

The officer, Jonathan Issac Dew, 39 was arrested for three charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to police records, agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant at Dew’s home on Wednesday after tracking the IP address of a computer that downloaded child porn files back on October 20th.

Investigators say they found child pornography files on a laptop computer belonging to Dew. They confronted him at work, and he was later arrested.

Police records state the images were of children the same age as Dew’s own children, as a result, they are requesting bail to be set at $5000,000.

“Salt Lake Police will be cooperating with investigating agencies in any manner necessary. An internal affairs investigation was opened immediately upon notification to our agency,” a statement from Salt Lake City Police Department stated.

This is a developing story. Updates will be posted as they become available.
