SLC veterans get house makeover

Local News
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) -Volunteers are working to provide a home makeover for veterans in Salt Lake City Friday.

More than 70 volunteers from Home Depot are transforming the Freedom Landing Facility.

It’s a former hotel, re-purposed into a transitional home for more than 100 veterans.

All residents receive a furnished apartment, on-site case management and other services to help them move back into civilian life, but it’s in need of some major improvements.

We’ll be building a deck out there for them with outdoor exercise equipment as well as some tough sheds and then a couple of grow boxes so the veterans can get outside and grow some healthy fresh food,” said Krisitin Calderwood, manager of an American Fork Home Depot.

This is part of the Home Depot’s ongoing efforts to improve the homes and lives of veterans and their families.
