EVANSTON, Wyo. (News4Utah) The Salt Lake City Police Department crossed state lines to search for evidence connected to the murder of a 15-year-old girl.

Salt Lake police sent about 20 officers to the Uinta County Landfill near Evanston Wyoming, following up on tips related to the homicide that occurred on May 7.

Baleigh Bagshaw was found dead in her home after police said she was attacked by 24-year-old Shaun French. French was arrested days later in Otero County, Colorado.

Before French was apprehended, police believed he was headed to Wyoming due to his ties there.

Officers conducted a coordinated search of the landfill in hopes of locating evidence related to the investigation. They say there were more than 250 staffing hours dedicated to the search of the landfill. Evidence was recovered, but police won’t say exactly what kind at this time.
