The Salt Lake City International Airport had a record year in 2018 as they posted a thrid consecutive year of passenger growth.
In a press release Thursday, the airport reported a total passenger count of 25,554,244 over the full course of the year. That number is a 5.6 percent increase over the previous year and is the first time the airport has had more that 25 million passengers in 12 month period.
“We are planning and building for continued growth with The New SLC Redevelopment Program,” said Bill Wyatt, executive director, Salt Lake City Department of Airports. “Even through construction, we continue to rank high in passenger surveys, which is a reflection of the great team we have on board.”
The growth is impressive considering the currently facility was originally designed to support just 10 million. The airport is slated to open its new facility in 2020.
