SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Salt Lake City International Airport held a “topping ceremony” Tuesday afternoon as the final steel beam was placed in position on the North Concourse as part of the major renovations underway to create “The New SLC” airport.
Executive Director Bill Wyatt joined Salt Lake City Chief of Staff Patrick Leary to issue remarks on the infrastructure project’s progress.
“Salt Lake is building the first new hub airport in the 21st century and this will actually secure Salt Lake City’s position as a global aviation hub well into the future,” said Leary.
“This project is going to have an economic impact, a cultural impact on the future of this community in ways few other projects can,” said Wyatt.
Phase one of the new airport is set to open on September 15, 2020.
