SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – A shooting near a downtown bar in Salt Lake City has sent one man to the hospital in critical condition.

As of 7:30 a.m. Sunday, detectives were still searching for suspects in a shooting that occurred around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Moose Lounge located at 400 South 180 West.

Lt. Yvette Zayas, Salt Lake City Police, said the victim was reported to have been shot multiple times and was taken to the hospital by friends where he was then taken by medical helicopter to another hospital. He is still listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that three people, including one of the suspects jumped into a car and fled the scene before officers arrived. Those witnesses were able to take down the license plate to the car, which was traced to a home near 4100 South 500 East.

When officers arrived at that location, the car was in the driveway and two people at that home were taken in for questioning but not arrested.

It is not known if the victim of the shooting knew the suspects or exactly what took place but the investigation is ongoing.

As this is a developing story, an update will be provided once more information becomes available.
