Several injured when conveyor belt malfunctions at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center tubing hill

MIDWAY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Several people were injured after a conveyor belt malfunctioned at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center tubing hill Friday afternoon. 

Lisa Rasmussen, a representative from Soldier Hollow confirmed the incident happened when the uphill transportation belt that services the tubing hill broke down.

“Four guests were injured, one was taken to the hospital and released,” said Rasmussen. “Our guests’ safety is our number one priority. The tubing hill will remain closed until we are able to assess the malfunction with the manufacturer.”

Rasmussen said they are uncertain when the tubing hill will reopen for public use and ask for those wanting to know when it will re-open, you can check their website for updates.

ABC4 received a message from a woman who was there and said when the belt broke, they heard a loud sound and were thrown to the ground and that several people were hurt during the incident. 

The woman said there were multiple ambulances, ski patrol, and park police on scene to help during the incident.
