Server springs into action when delivery driver collapses at restaurant

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) – A server at a local restaurant steps up and helps save the life of a delivery driver.

Teresa Lynn Hiatt’s co-workers are glad she knew what to do when a delivery driver collapsed in the back of their restaurant.

Hiatt used to be a certified nursing assistant, so when the driver dropped while unloading, she responded. She called 911 and helped assess and comfort the man until the ambulance arrived.

“I was scared, and it was like ‘am I going to do the right thing here?’ you know, am I going to do this the way I was trained to do it?” said Hiatt.

The delivery driver’s boss said he’s still in the hospital undergoing tests. Doctors are trying to determine if he had a stroke, heart attack or something else.
