WASHINGTON D.C. (ABC4 News)- The Senate Republican Conference gave retiring Senator Orrin Hatch one more chance to fight for Utah in a fun farewell video.
Senator Hatch was once an amateur boxer but he laced up his boxing gloves one final time.
He said every good fighter knows when to hang up the gloves.
“I would like to thank the people of Utah for allowing me to fight for them for all of these years. We’ve made it very clear that Utah plays a significant role back here in the United States Senate,” Hatch said.
Thank you to the talented team at @SenateGOP under @SenJohnThune, particularly @Scheidsa and @JoeSColby for this fun farewell video.
And of course to the people of Utah for giving us the opportunity to fight on their behalf all these years. #utpol pic.twitter.com/kv2FXxpru3— Senator Hatch Office (@senorrinhatch) December 19, 2018
Hatch will be succeeded by Republican Senator-elect Mitt Romney.
